Making a Metal Oxide
Aim:
To make a metal oxide and observe the difference in properties of the product compared to other reactants.
Observation:
Before the result, the magnesium was a metallic luster, when we had burned it in the Bunsen burner it became a bright white light. Before the reaction on copper, it was also a metallic luster, but after we burned it became black. Before we heated the copper it was a bronze color, and after we burned it became black.
Equations:
Magnesium + Oxygen = Magnesium Oxide
Copper + Oxygen = Copper Oxide
Iron + Oxygen = Iron oxide
